Dessert service in earthenware consisting of six small plates and a large serving plate, characterized by the shaped edge and the wavy surface. The lively decoration, in Art Déco taste, features stylized antelopes depicted in motion within circular medallions, surrounded by an elegant interlacing of volutes and spirals in brown and yellow tones on a beige and ivory background. Made by the B.M.C. manufactory, founded in Sesto Fiorentino in 1928, the service testifies to the modern language of Italian ceramic production in the 1930s. All elements bear the B.M.C. – Sesto Fiorentino mark, documented in specialized bibliographies. Type: Dessert service, 7 pieces Manufacture: B.M.C. – Barraud, Messeri & C. Material: Multicolored earthenware Dimensions: Diameter 19 and 27 cm Place and dating: Sesto Fiorentino, 1930s. Bibliography: Ceramica in Toscana, pp. 280–281, for the manufactory’s mark.
