RARE MODEL IN THIS SIZE (85 cm) AND THIS QUALITY A mahogany model magnificently varnished (multi-gloss poly-lustrous finishes) with superb detail (MUSEUM-QUALITY) Fully mounted on its stand, the hull crafted in mahogany on a wooden frame, the numerous metal components of the original boat faithfully reproduced on this collectible model, entirely made and hand-assembled by the Marine Azimut workshop. The wood slats are joined by brass nails on a wood/metal skeleton, with composite resin The fittings are made in copper, brass, and mild steel. All metal cutouts are produced either manually by seasoned specialists or by laser cutting or casting. The cabin is leather-lined stitched. The multi-layer poly-lustrous varnish catches the light to reproduce the elegant depth and the design of the hull line. The quality and dimensions reproduce perfectly the streamlined profile of this racing runabout A VERY BEAUTIFUL PIECE WITHOUT FLAW U-10 America embodies the Golden Age of water speed records, designed in 1932 by Gar Wood, who was also a holder of multiple records. The hull of this hydroplane is intended to minimize drag to the maximum, complemented by a spectacular Packard propulsion designed for performance and power. In 1932, Gar Wood quickly wins the Harmsworth Trophy, establishing a new world record at 200 km/h (124.9 mph). In a context of intense technological rivalry, U-10 established itself as a benchmark of brute power in the history of water speed racing from 1932 onward.
