Large Collection of Austrian Emergency Money (Notgeld) & WWI POW Camp Issues – Over 800 Banknotes Total. General Description An extraordinary, bulk investment opportunity for dealers and specialized world paper money collectors alike. This impressive collection covers a fascinating chapter of Central European monetary history, spanning the First World War Prisoner of War (POW) camps and the chaotic economic aftermath of the 1920 Austrian Notgeld (Emergency Money) crisis. The highlight of the lot is a massive hoard of approximately 800 municipal Heller banknotes divided into 8 distinct emission groups of roughly 100 notes each, appearing in pristine condition. Accompanying this hoard is a selection of historically significant, scarce WWI Prisoner of War Lagergeld (Camp Money) from the famous camps of Aschach and Grödig, along with a large Austro-Hungarian multi-language 10 Kronen.
