Austin, Texas. Republic of Texas. 1841 $3. PCGS Banknote Choice Fine

Austin, Texas. Republic of Texas. 1841 $3. PCGS Banknote Choice Fine 15. Uncancelled. No. 1299. Plate A. An unassuming rarity by virtue of the grade assigned. This well-circulated $3 Obsolete issued by the Republic of Texas during the early 1840s is not only a rarity by virtue of the grade or denomination, but also thanks to a trait rarely ever encountered among surviving notes on this popular issuer renowned for cancellations. Here the astute collector may notice that this $3 Obsolete lacks the customary cancellations typical of this issuer which affects roughly 95% of the notes encountered regardless of the denomination. Held together with the fact that the $3 is already one of the rarest denominations for the Republic of Texas and the fact this piece remains uncancelled, it takes little to reason that the specialist has an incredibly rare opportunity here for their consideration that is best taken home with a premium bid. PCGS Banknote comments "Edge Split." Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
