Armand Meffre (1929–2009) French actor and painter. - Sète - La Pointe Courte - signed bottom right, countersigned and titled and on the back, original work, oil on canvas 54x73 cm, stretched on a frame. Sète is not merely a subject for Armand Meffre: it is a place deeply linked to his life and work. The port of Sète is one of Armand Meffre’s most cherished subjects. Fascinated by its port world, its quays, its boats and installations, he reinterprets their forms and colors, turning the real landscape into powerful geometric compositions, on the boundary of abstraction. La Pointe Courte, historic and patrimonial district of Sète, is famous for its fishing huts and its authentic atmosphere. Armand Meffre offers an interpretation in a cubist vein, where boats, masts and architectures blend into a modern, luminous, and particularly expressive geometric composition. An emblematic actor of theatre and cinema, Armand Meffre acted under the direction of major filmmakers alongside Philippe Noiret, Jean Rochefort, and Gérard Depardieu. Trained in painting with master André Lhote, he developed a sensitive, luminous, and deeply sensuous œuvre. His paintings, imbued with tenderness and poetry, reveal a profoundly humane gaze, between restrained emotion and sincere simplicity. A complete artist, each painting tells a story and moves with its authenticity. A highly talented artist with significant results at public auctions. Participates in major international art fairs in the United States, China, and Europe. The painting has been photographed in the artist’s Studio at his original easel. The works are widely represented in galleries and private museums in Russia, Italy, USA, United Kingdom, and China. Certificate of authenticity signed by the artist will be provided to the buyer.
