Chinese Archaistic Bronze Bottle Vase A finely cast bronze bottle vase of elegant, slender form, inspired by ancient ritual vessels of early Chinese antiquity. The vase features a gently rounded body rising to a narrow neck, reflecting the enduring influence of archaic bronze prototypes that were widely revered and reinterpreted during the late Ming and early Qing periods. The decoration consists of archaistic bands around the mouth and foot, rendered with stylised motifs of fish and waves, evoking classical marine imagery associated with abundance and harmony. Such designs draw upon earlier decorative traditions where wave patterns symbolise the cosmic sea and continuity of life, often paired with aquatic creatures as auspicious emblems. The surface shows a rich, naturally developed patina, enhancing the sculptural quality of the form. Vessels of this type were appreciated both as functional objects for flower arrangements and as scholarly antiquities, reflecting a cultivated taste for the revival of ancient styles. Dimensions: 21,5 x 12 cm Condition: Very good, only minor wear, small dents and dirt consistent with specified age. Please refer to the images for the definitive and binding description of the item’s condition. Shipping: The item will be securely packed and shipped with insurance.
