Magnificent specimen for this legendary watch. Coming from the house Jean Richard, from which Aquastar was a offshoot. The birth of Aquastar followed the filing by Jean Richard SA of a patent for a diving watch with an integrated rotating bezel, but also one of the first watches to present a water resistance rating of 200 meters. The 63 was launched in the mid-1960s, and marketed to a targeted audience: divers. Standing out for a lower cost for the era compared to its competitors, it featured a rotating bezel system, the activation of which is by the crown. The crown thus plays a double role: winding the movement and adjusting the inner bezel. Reference: Aquastar 63 - 1701 Automatic movement: AS 1701 Movement serviced, optimal amplitudes and deviations. Case dimensions: 37.5 mm (without crown) / 40 mm (with crown) Stainless steel case, unpolished. Screwed stainless steel case back. Original crown. Blue marine graded inner bezel, activated by the crown (perfectly functional). Champagne-tropical dial, showing a beautiful patina, offering gorgeous tone variations depending on lighting (some micro imperfections, see photos) Applied baton hour markers with tritium dots. Batons hands, stunning patina, tritium. Date function present at 3 o'clock. Rochet black strap, genuine leather, new. Steel pin buckle. An example in excellent condition for its era, both aesthetically and mechanically. Sold separately.
