Title: Narciso Contaminato Artist: Antonio Sciacca Year of Creation: 1995 Technique: Oil on canvas Artistic Current: Metropolismo Dimensions: 120 x 100 cm Condition: Excellent The Myth and Atmospheric Contamination "Narciso Contaminato" is a unique, imposing, and deeply conceptual work by Master Antonio Sciacca, a prominent figure of the Metropolismo movement. Created in 1995, the canvas offers a dramatic and contemporary rereading of the myth of Narcissus, exploring the influence of modernity and the urban environment on identity. The composition, of significant dimensions (120 x 100 cm), dominates the space and draws the viewer in with a scene of intense vulnerability. The youthful figure is caught bending toward his own reflection, but it is the air surrounding Narcissus that is invaded by a rain of bright blue droplets. These are not tears or water, but external elements symbolizing the environmental and psychological contamination of the metropolis looming over the individual. The threatening influence is external and atmospheric, a modern poison that envelops the act of self-observation. The resulting reflection appears already altered, embodying alienation and the fragility of identity in the contemporary era. This painterly and conceptual mastery makes the work a visual manifesto of Sciacca’s metropolitan poetics, underscoring how the surrounding reality corrupts even the purest act of introspection. Historical, Exhibitional Relevance and Market Value This extraordinary work is not only a technical masterpiece but also a piece with a prestigious exhibition history. "Narciso Contaminato" has been successfully showcased in several contemporary art exhibitions in Europe between 1995 and the early 2000s, increasing its fame and critical recognition. In the contemporary art circuit, unique works of this significance by Master Sciacca from that period were priced in the primary market up to 30 million of the old Lire. "Narciso Contaminato" is regarded as an ultra-rare piece on the secondary market, offering an exceptional opportunity to acquire a museum-worthy work. For its historical and artistic characteristics and its imposing scale, it represents a stake of guaranteed value and is continually appreciating. The work comes complete with an authentic signature by the master on a photograph with the master beside the work, accompanied by a certificate of guarantee. It is offered with professional, traced, and insured shipping.
