Antique cast-iron coal scuttle from Europe. Beautifully designed coal bin with a turtle-like body supported by three sturdy legs. This is one of those fireplace essentials that is both practical and decorative. It was formerly used for coal with the coal stove; now it works well as a firewood storage by the fireplace or wood stove, or as a decorative element. This coal scuttle dates from the late 19th century and is made of cast iron with black enamel on the lid. The condition of this coal scuttle is good, with no major damage or repairs.
