Antique Pendant Brooch in the Form of a Locket with a Front Made of

A photograph, a lock of hair, perhaps even a little note: We often have very personal and intimate mementos that remind us of a loved one. There is a special charm in carrying such objects with you at all times. In a locket, these memories are hidden from the gaze of others, and yet they are always there, close to the heart. This beautiful locket dates from the late 19th century. This piece of jewellery, which can be worn as both a pendant and a brooch, features an elongated, curved design and is adorned with black enamel on the front. A small natural pearl sits at the center of a blooming rose. A movable gold ball hangs from the bottom. The front of the locket is crafted from gold sheet metal that has been gilded with silver. On the back, a glass-covered compartment allows for the storage of personal mementos. We discovered this sentimental piece of jewellery, dating from around 1890, here in Berlin.
