Antique Oil on Canvas Painting Doges Palace Venice by Alfred Pollentine 19th C

This is a beautiful oil on canvas painting of the view of the Grand Canal and The Doge's Palace in Venice by the renowned British artist Alfred Pollentine (1836-1890), signed lower right, 'A Pollentine, circa 1870 in date. This landscape captures a striking view of the Grand Canal, it features a busy canal scene with gondoliers in the foreground, in the distance the facades of The Doge's Palace and St Mark's Campanile in the back ground. Housed in it's original and beautiful gilt gallery frame.
