Antique Gold Bar Brooch with Diamonds & Pearl, c. 1905

This brooch is designed in the shape of a bar pin, the typical brooch shape of the years shortly after 1900. A pearl and ten old-cut diamonds shine against warm gold. The precious gemstones are arranged to form a flower around the pearl. Two further diamonds flank the blossom and lead to the brooch pin. The fashion-conscious lady wore bar pins like these on the collar of her high-necked blouse. Today, as collars are less tight around the neck, the brooch can also be worn effectively on lapels, on a jumper or wherever a little sparkling elegance can add the icing on the cake.
