Tignanello, first made by the Marchesi Antinori in 1971, is one of the original Super Tuscans, the wine that broke with tradition by blending Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and ageing it in French barrique. From the Tignanello vineyard in the hills of Chianti Classico, it is one of Italy's most celebrated reds. 2018 was a cool, long growing season in Tuscany that yielded elegant, polished wines. Antonio Galloni from Vinous gave it a rating of 97, Bruce Sanderson from Wine Spectator gave it 96, and Monica Larner reviewed it for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
