An ancient Roman bronze stylus, used in antiquity to write on wax tablets. The stylus features a long, slender shaft with a conical end for incising and writing text on the wax tablets, and a flat tip that was used to erase words by smoothing the wax surface. The Roman stylus was a versatile instrument used in antiquity to write on wax tablets, which was a common means of recording information in ancient Rome. Condition: Good condition, green patina and earth inclusions on the surface. Material: bronze. Date: 1st–3rd centuries A.D. Dimensions: total size 75 x 9 mm. Weight: 9.07 g No repairs or alterations. It presents calcifications and concretions on its surface typical of its age and prolonged burial, and which are the best guarantee of its authenticity. This item does not require an export license within the EU No shipments outside the EU. Authenticity is fully guaranteed. Origin: Acquired by the current owner in 1990 in Germany, at the Art and Antiquities Fair.
