[HERALDIC MANUSCRIPT OF THE XVIIth CENTURY] Armorial of the Great Council of Mechelen (1473) & Golden Fleece – In-12, full period parchment Manuscript armorial of the seventeenth century listing the coats of arms of the members of the Great Council of Mechelen (1473) and of the Knights of the Order of the Golden Fleece (Spanish & Burgundian Netherlands). Exceptional unpublished manuscript armorial from the XVIIth century, on rag paper, preserved in its original full parchment binding. The work documents the composition and members of the Great Council of Mechelen (1473) under Charles the Bold, as well as several high dignitaries and Knights of the Order of the Golden Fleece (Jean de Berghes, Jean d'Egmont, Philip the Bold, François de Busleyden, Archbishop of Besançon, Louis of Bourbon, Bishop of Liège, etc.). Each folio features coats of arms carefully drawn with pen and ink, accompanied by calligraphic legends in Dutch and French specifying heraldic tinctures and metals ("het veld goudt", "Leeuwen roodt", "veldt silver", "Arenden roodt", etc.). Notable figures listed (extracts): Charles the Bold & Philip the Good Jean Carondelet (Chancellor) Adrien de Brimeu Jean de Berghes & Jean d'Egmont Members of families: De Halewyn, De La Chaapelle, De Longeville, De Lafaing, De Busleyden, De Bourbon, De Ligne, De Croÿ... Technical Sheet: Era: XVIIth century (circa 1650-1680). Support: Rag paper of the period with natural edge. Language: Dutch / French (period bilingual heraldic annotations). Format: In-12 / pocket-size format (approximately 14×9.5 cm). Binding: Full period parchment, spine with raised bands, manuscript title in gold lettering "TABLEU DE MECHLEN". Collation / Condition of leaves: Manuscript complete with period numbering of the escutcheons. Condition: Binding: Very good condition for XVIIth-century parchment. Spine solid, gathering intact, minor normal signs of use on the covers. Interior: Paper in excellent condition. Ink perfectly legible, very minor foxing. The quires are well bound to the binding.
