Stylistic analysis of the miniatures by François Avril of the National Library of Paris. 326 pages Manuscript 527 of the Municipal Library of Dijon is one of the most beautiful of its kind, thanks to its 46 miniatures, its carefully executed cursive script, and the quality of each of its folios. These features reflect the tastes of its original recipient, a lover of books—and of the most beautiful books—at a time in the mid-15th century when the bibliophilic passion of French kings and high nobility gave rise to magnificent works of art, such as this codex.
