Aneroid barometer - Wood - aneroid wall barometer

Antique wall barometer with thermometer – Beautifully carved wood – Visible mechanical inner workings – Circa 1900–1930 A particularly charming combination of historical measuring instruments and graceful woodwork! This stunning antique wall barometer is a real eye-catcher. The elongated wooden panel is richly adorned with decorative details, graceful scroll ornaments, raised square elements and stylized floral motifs. The warm red-brown wood tone provides a striking contrast with the brass-colored frame of the barometer and the light dials. What makes this specimen extra attractive is the visible mechanical inner workings of the round barometer. Behind the glass you can admire the characteristic metal pressure capsules, springs and the fine mechanism. Two classic measuring instruments in one Aneroid barometer The round barometer features a lovely Dutch-language dial with the classic weather indicators: Storm – Much rain or wind – Changeable – Fine weather – Durable. The scale runs from about 69 to 79 and is provided with two hands, including a setting indicator with which changes in atmospheric pressure can be followed. In an aneroid barometer the air pressure is measured by a mechanical system with metal pressure capsules. A special technique developed in the 19th century and used for years in household weather stations. Integrated thermometer Above the barometer is a classic glass liquid thermometer with a double scale: * Fahrenheit (F) * Celsius (C) The thermometer is elegantly integrated into a long, oval cutout and equipped with a characteristic spiral-shaped reservoir at the bottom. Decorative woodwork The wooden panel also deserves special attention. The top features an elevated, rounded crown with carved ornament. Below that is a striking crosspiece with gracefully curled ends. The lower half is enriched with scroll ornaments, floral motifs and a nicely profiled bottom edge. A particularly atmospheric ensemble that fits beautifully in a classic interior as well as in a country-style living room, study, or nostalgic workroom. An attractive collectible for lovers of antique barometers, historical measuring instruments and distinctive wall decoration.
