The famous meeting between Princess Caroline of Monaco and Andy Warhol gave rise to one of Vogue Paris’s most iconic covers in December 1983. The Portrait and the Vogue Cover (1983) The session: In 1983, Princess Caroline — then 26 years old — was invited as a guest editor for Vogue’s Christmas special issue. The Warhol touch: Andy Warhol produced a series of Polaroid photographs of the princess and created a high-impact graphic design based on the light and shadow of her face. The result: The resulting image became the December 1983 / January 1984 cover, blending the world of European royalty with the artist’s pop aesthetic. The relationship with Levi’s Advertising art: Andy Warhol was fascinated by everyday, mass-market objects, which led him to immortalize elements of American culture such as the iconic Levi’s 501 jeans in his silkscreens and posters (often referred to as Levi’s Four Images). Two screen prints that the artist created in the 1980s, in perfect condition and never exhibited. They belong to the Spain collection, year 2006, authorized and with copyright by the Andy Warhol Foundation. Printed on high-density, high-quality laid paper. Dimensions of each work: 43x34 cm. They are shipped with tracking code and perfectly protected.
