Andiron - Gilt bronze - Louis XV

PAIR OF LOUIS XV STYLE ANDIRONS – 19th CENTURY Beautiful pair of andirons (or landiers) in chiselled and gilded bronze (or heavy-section brass) in Rocaille style. The decoration, richly dynamic, features a base adorned with floral rosettes and broad stylized acanthus leaves in relief. The upper part is crowned by a fluted baluster shaft ending in a twisted bobbin finial. The whole rests on its original wrought-iron feet with curved ends, allowing the logs to be supported. • Style: Louis XV • Materials: Bronze/Brass and Iron • Condition: In good house condition. Old-use patina with traces of natural verdigris in the recesses (accentuating the chasing). Feet sound and solid.
