White coral beads and tinted glass in various colors from Ancient Rome, strung on 18Kt gold-plated thread. They are linked in 18Kt gold-plated jewelry hooks as well. The green glass beads possess the optical effect of cat's eye, chatoyance. The master glassmakers had the ability to imitate this effect in glass beads using the mosaic glass technique. They stretched ultra-thin threads of glass, fused them together linearly, then cut and polished the rods at specific angles to make the light reflect along internal lines parallel to those produced by this effect. The Romans associated this feline gaze with vigilance and protection against the evil eye, as well as the property of returning bad energies and bad luck to the sender. This mystical symbolism of the cat's eye was inherited from the East and revalued for its usefulness and mystery. An elegant way to combine the classical world with the modern world. It ships with a legal declaration sheet. Customs duties outside the EU will be borne by the auction winner.
