Roman bronze double-ring fastener for securing garments – 2nd–3rd centuries AD. Culture: Roman. Period: Roman Empire, centuries II–III AD (typological dating). Material: Cast bronze. Measurements: 47 × 17 × 3 mm. Auction description: Elegant Roman bronze fastener with a double ring, characterized by its harmonious symmetric design and its carefully geometric decoration. The piece features two circular rings of rounded section, connected by a central rectangular bridge ornamented with groups of fine parallel incised lines, carefully distributed. Its configuration allows the passage and fastening of textile elements, cords, or straps, using a simple tension-retention system, characteristic of small functional accessories of Antiquity. This type of element constitutes an interesting example of Roman metalwork, in which everyday functionality was combined with discreet and elegant ornamentation. Special note is made of the regularity of the rings, the quality of the casting, and the preservation of the incised decoration, which gives personality to a small-sized piece. The surface presents a beautiful ancient patina in olive green and dark brown tones, with light mineral deposits and signs of wear. Condition: Very good, with both rings complete, central bridge intact, geometric decoration clearly visible, and an attractive superficial patina.
