Bronze Seal Matrix with Stylised Bird Motif and Suspension Loop – 1st to 3rd Century AD A bronze seal matrix with a circular working face, a tapering conical handle and a pierced terminal loop that would have allowed attachment to a cord or chain. The face bears a deeply engraved, stylised bird in profile, with a circular eye, a projecting beak and curved bands above a series of closely spaced vertical incisions. The bold arrangement gives the device a distinctive graphic character, although the species and intended symbolism cannot be identified securely. Its surface retains a dark brown patina, lighter deposits and wear around the edge of the matrix. The object was designed to produce an impression in a soft material. Material: Bronze Dimensions: 2.5 cm height Weight: 8.08 gr Provenance: Acquired in Germany from an auction house, previously from a personal collection. We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years. A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email. This item has been legally acquired under European Law.
