Roman bronze discoidal fibula with concentric decoration – 2nd–3rd centuries AD. Culture: Roman. Period: Roman Empire, 2nd–3rd centuries AD. Material: Bronze. Description for auction: Elegant Roman discoidal fibula made of bronze, belonging to the tradition of small personal ornaments used during the Roman Empire to fasten cloaks and other garments. It features an attractive circular design, headed by a small central relief button, surrounded by a well-defined concentric ring. The outer area incorporates various radially arranged geometric fields that provide balance and ornamental richness to the composition. This type of fibulae constitutes an interesting manifestation of Roman metalworking, in which artisans combined functionality and decoration through geometrical shapes of great elegance. The piece preserves a beautiful archaeological green patina, with turquoise, ochre tones and mineral deposits that accentuate the reliefs and add notable aesthetic appeal. Conservation status: Good conservation of the ornamental disk, with visible concentric decoration, surface wear and attractive old patina.
