Ancient Roman

Roman Empire Bronze Bow Fibula with Spring and Pin – 2nd to 3rd Century AD A bronze bow fibula with a strongly raised, angular arch, a broad upper section and a tapering foot ending in a small moulded terminal. The coiled spring and long pin survive beneath the body, allowing the fastening mechanism to be appreciated from both photographic views. The pronounced curvature of the bow would have provided space for gathering and securing fabric, combining a practical garment fastening with a decorative accessory. Its robust profile is complemented by restrained moulding around the head and foot. The surface has a mottled green and brown patina with lighter deposits and abrasion, while the spring and pin show areas of warmer exposed metal. Material: Bronze Dimensions: 5.2 x 2.5 cm Weight: 16.71 gr Provenance: Adquired in Denmark from a gallery house in 2026. We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years. A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email. This item has been legally acquired under European Law.
