Encapsulated silver-toned metal pendant, for better preservation, with a nummus of Constantine II (son of Constantine I the Great) when he was Caesar. Minted between 325-326 AD with a mint in Heraclea (office B/SMHB). It is mounted on a modern 925 silver cord-type chain. Obverse; laureate and draped bust of Caesar Constantine II looking to the right. Legend "Constantine Junior, the Most Noble Caesar". Reverse; Roman military camp in the form of a square-plant building or watchtower with two turrets at the top and a star between them. This star is associated with divine guidance, celestial light, and the protection of the gods over the Roman state and its rulers. Legend "To the Providence of the Caesars" which reinforced the idea of security and vigilance that military camps possessed under celestial favor. Includes a legal declaration sheet. Customs costs outside the EU shall be borne by the auction winner.
