China. Pair of archaic-style zoomorphic pendants, Xi-type (觿) Historical reference: Eastern Zhou Dynasty – beginnings of Han, 5th–2nd centuries BCE. Material: Gray-green stone with a jade-like appearance. Interesting pair of Chinese ornaments carved in the shape of curved fangs, finished with stylized dragon heads. The pieces feature incised and carved details representing circular eyes, snouts, and ornamental spiral motifs. Both incorporate perforations for suspension. Their design reproduces the tradition of the ancient xi pendants, used as personal ornaments and historically associated with the practice of undoing knots. The surfaces show pale green, gray and beige tones, with adhered earthy deposits and visible wear. Two-piece set with strong decorative appeal, inspired by the archaic jade tradition of China Catawiki disclaimer: This object has been dated based on style by the seller. No further tests, such as a TL test, analysis of pigments or radiography scans have been conducted to check the integrity of the piece.
