Very beautiful example of a ceramic statue from the Han Dynasty of ancient China, featuring a court lady in a long robe. She stands in a graceful posture and wears a long robe cinched at the waist, emphasizing her slender figure, and which flows gracefully to the ground. The lower part of her robe completely covers the legs and the floor with a long, flared train. Her face is modeled with strong features and the folds of the garment are marked with ribbing at the sleeves. The hands are joined at the abdomen inside the ribbed sleeves. China, Han Dynasty, 206 BCE to 220 CE. Grey engobe ceramic, traces of red and black pigmentation still present. Perfect condition – piece entirely intact with no restoration.
