Bi disk in translucent celadon nephrite jade A rare, large jade disk featuring a 'grain' pattern, Eastern Zhou Dynasty, Warring States period. This circular disk, pierced by a round hole at its center, is finely carved in high relief on both faces. It features an abundance of grain motifs in nipple-like shapes, carefully arranged and connected by leiwen, each shimmering, clearly raised and in dynamic harmony, all framed by an elevated border. The stone, a pale green, is enhanced by brown-reddish inclusions. The jade disk has rich symbolism; since the Neolithic era it has appeared as a ritual object and, throughout history, jade disks have occupied a preeminent position.
