Ammonite - Fossilised animal - Ammonite Cleoniceras on...

Impressive genuine polished ammonite fossil (Phylloceras), elegantly mounted on a custom display stand featuring a sleek acrylic base. The specimen is expertly cut and polished to reveal its intricate natural suture patterns (foliate sutures), resembling detailed dendrites or leaf-like structures across the shell. It exhibits a rich contrast of deep slate-grey and dark mineralised tones alongside warm amber and golden calcite infills within the inner chambers. Ammonites were marine cephalopod molluscs that inhabited the world's oceans for hundreds of millions of years before becoming extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period, approximately 66 million years ago. Their distinctive coiled shells featured internal chambers used to regulate buoyancy, resulting in the fascinating geometric patterns preserved in the stone today. Mounted on a clear acrylic base with metal supports, this specimen is displayed with stability and elegance, allowing its striking natural patterns and colours to be fully appreciated from any angle. A sophisticated display piece seamlessly blending natural history, palaeontology, and interior design—ideal for a collector's cabinet, executive desk, library, or living room accent.
