Japan – late Edo period – Amida Nyorai – small portable zushi / miniature shrine Antique Japanese Buddhist statue of a standing Buddha, Amida Nyorai (Amitabha), executed in wood and placed in a traditional enclosing zushi. Condition: original old state, with substantial wear, craquelure and loss of lacquer and gilding, the aureole is largely incomplete, see photos..
