All auctions / Contemporary Art / Alexandre Petrus (1988) - GROGU (BABY YODA)
ABOUT THE ARTWORK “Grogu” is a tribute to one of the most beloved and instantly recognizable figures in contemporary pop culture. The artwork captures the character in a calm and touching frontal pose, wrapped in his iconic oversized robe, with his large expressive eyes and distinctive ears immediately drawing attention. The composition highlights both his fragility and his quiet strength, creating a strong emotional presence despite the simplicity of the scene. Reduced through the hand-cut stencil technique, the character becomes both graphic and highly expressive. The vibrant turquoise-blue background gives the piece a luminous and modern atmosphere. Combined with the black, white, and blue tones of the subject, it creates a striking contrast that reinforces the freshness and softness of the composition. The textured abstract background adds movement and depth while allowing the central figure to remain the clear focal point. “Grogu” is a piece that will appeal to collectors of pop culture, science-fiction inspired art, and contemporary stencil work. It is both playful and elegant, offering a sensitive reinterpretation of an iconic character through a distinctive urban-art aesthetic. ABOUT THE ARTIST Alexandre Petrus is a French stencil artist with a strong and instantly recognizable visual identity. His signature technique — the hand-cut double-layer stencil — separates light and shadow into two distinct stencils, layered onto a spontaneous, hand-painted abstract background. The result is a striking visual language where each subject emerges with strength, clarity, and presence. His work moves between mythology, pop culture, wildlife, and symbolic scenes inspired by childhood, freedom, and human emotion. Whatever the theme, the approach remains the same: precision in the stencil, freedom in the background, and a constant search for contrast, impact, and emotion. Each artwork is a unique original. No prints, no identical editions: every background is painted individually by hand, making each piece distinct. The small smiling “AP” monogram visible on the artwork is the artist’s signature — Alexandre Petrus’s initials merged into a face — sprayed onto every original piece. SHIPPING The artwork is carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and protective plastic film, then secured in a custom-sized cardboard box for safe international transit. A signed certificate of authenticity is included inside the package. Shipping via Colissimo or Chronopost, tracked and insured. Dispatch within 3 working days after payment confirmation.
