Alessio Mazzarulli - It is nothing (n.598) - Dolls series

Artwork n.598 It is nothing (n.598) - Dolls series Dimensions: 85,00 x 85,00 (cm) This artwork is unique and original. Unframed; shipped rolled. I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper is transformed into art instead of ending up in the trash. Series "Not your doll" - In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest works I have created. On those little bits of paper you can read words and phrases scattered here and there. It often happens when we get close to another person: sometimes we read their secret messages, sometimes not. "Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to depict faces of women with features reminiscent of the most classic dolls and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, your doll, and you can do what you want with me" with everything that lies behind it, up to, unfortunately, violence. The surface features small reliefs and I like to caress it, to feel it... I also use acrylic resin on the surface, which gives a shiny effect and protects the colors from sunlight and dust. This artwork is unique and original. Each artwork is securely packaged, wrapped and protected for worldwide shipping, with an included Certificate of Authenticity. I use the courier provided directly by Catawiki and a tracking number will be provided with the shipment. This work will be shipped without a frame and without a stretcher as the work will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the larger surface will be useful and necessary to be stretched on a frame. It is advised to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise on a possible and appropriate frame. The images showing the work in interior settings are for illustrative purposes only and the proportions may appear different. The actual dimensions are those indicated in the description. Different light sources can give different colors to the photos. For more photos and information, contact me! Thank you. *** IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS (NON-EU): Customs duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price nor in the shipping costs. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. The amount should be between 10% and 20% of the artwork's value. Born in 1974 I am self-taught. After an initial period dedicated to sculpture there was a long pause lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, leaving sculpture behind and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes but lately I have been pushing myself to also paint faces of people, both imaginary and real. For me painting is "freezing time" in that exact moment; one of my works is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are glimpses of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that, over time, grow on the surface. Time that passes inexorably is the main theme of my works. Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are readily perceivable to the touch as well as to the naked eye. Recently, after several years in which my works were created from pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids repeated with mathematical rigor that from close up seem to form an abstract colorful painting but the more you move away the more a portrait emerges from the 768 painted wooden discs. Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce the faces of women, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report the fact that they are not their partner's dolls and they cannot be mistreated or, worse, victims of violence. *** Here are the recent exhibitions: Solo shows: 2017 Solo exhibition / Maison des Arts - Pescara, Italy Group shows: Naarden The Art Fair / Amsterdam - Naarden, Netherlands 2026 Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam / De Kromhouthal, Gedempt Hamerkanaal 231, 1021 KP Amsterdam, Netherlands - Amsterdam, Netherlands 2025 X Edition of MumArt “Homage to Costantino Barbella” / Michetti Museum - Francavilla al Mare, Italy 2020 Andy Warhol And Friends / Galleria D'arte Art Events Mazzoleni - Alzano Lombardo (BG), Italy 2019 "Liberty in Visual Arts – Second Edition" / Mumi - Michetti Museum - Francavilla Al Mare (CH), Italy 2019 Internationale Art Price - Tamara De Lempicka / Milano Art Gallery - Milan, Italy 2018 Archipelago #2 / Galeri Sveva - Stockholm, Sweden 2018 Dialog Between Generations / Castel dell'Ovo - Naples, Italy 2018 The Magical Shades of Time / Aurum Arts - Pescara, Italy 2017 In obstinate and contrary direction / Simultánea Spazi Arte - Florence, Italy 2017 World Wide Art Show – New York 2017 / 508/526 West 26th Street, Suite 315, New York, NY 10001 - New York, United States 2017 Liberty in Visual Arts / Michetti Museum - Francavilla al Mare, Italy 2016 Introspective Shades / Arte Borgo Gallery - Rome, Italy 2016 Caput Mundi Art / Palazzo Ferrajoli - Rome, Italy 2016 Art Salerno 2016 / Palazzo Fruscione - Salerno, Italy 2016 Art Rome / Flyer Art Gallery - Rome, Italy 2016 Weaving of the Artist / Merlino Bottega d'Arte Gallery - Florence, Italy 2015
