Aldo Tura - Statue, Ooievaar - Mid Century Modern - 40 cm - Mahogany

A stunning and characterful vintage bird sculpture of a heron/egret, crafted in warm, high-quality wood carving with an integrated metal ashtray. This object exudes the atmosphere of the Italian Mid-Century Modern design period of the 1950s and 1960s. The design bears a strong resemblance to the iconic work of Italian designer Aldo Tura (Macabo). The bird stands on a solid, kidney-shaped wooden base and has beautifully detailed metal legs. In the beak is a subtle eyelet where originally a small lantern hung. The woodwork is in a very beautiful, glossy vintage condition with minimal, age-appropriate signs of use that contribute to its character. Note: the object is delivered without the hanging lantern. Nevertheless, it remains a fantastic and unique decorative statement piece with an original metal ashtray insert for an eclectic or Mid-Century interior. Dimensions: Height: 40 cm Width: 24 cm Depth: 16 cm.
