Alberto Pasini (1826-1899), Attrib. - Golfo di Napoli

Condition of the Work: The painterly surface shows evident signs of time, including a slight craquelure, small scratches and wear along the upper and lateral edges, consistent with the antiquity of the support. The work captures a moment of transition, dawn or sunset, with a dramatic and luminous sky dominated by intense shades of orange, fire red and purple. The light reflects gently on the calm waters of the sea, creating a strong atmospheric contrast. Alberto Pasini (Busseto, 1826 – Cavoretto, 1899) was one of the most famous and highly regarded Italian painters of the 19th century, internationally recognized especially for Orientalist painting and for his refined landscape views. Crowned by success with the conferment of the Legion d'Honneur in Paris in 1878, today his paintings appear in the collections of important museum institutions, including the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna in Rome, the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (GAM) in Turin and the Galleria Nazionale di Parma.
