Albert Maysles (1926–2015) - Stephanie Seymour

Black-and-white promotional photograph featuring model Stephanie Seymour in the water, taken from the Sports Illustrated 25th Anniversary Swimsuit Video, directed by Susan Froemke and Albert Maysles in 1989. The image is part of behind-the-scenes material for the anniversary issue of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. The photo shoot with Stephanie Seymour took place on January 2, 1989, in Costa Careyes, Mexico. Photographer Marc Hispard shot portraits of the model for the 1989 issue. Albert Maysles and his team's film documents these sessions and reveals the work of photographers and models in their shooting environment. The caption printed under this image announces Stephanie Seymour’s participation in the anniversary video, at the time presented as a major release in the consumer video market. The program, produced by HBO and directed by Susan Froemke and Albert Maysles, aired in February 1989 before its release on video. The print retains its HistoricImages.com label as well as a stamp dated January 31, 1989, attesting to its processing within a press documentation circuit. An interesting period document for collectors of Stephanie Seymour, Sports Illustrated, fashion photography, and Albert Maysles’ documentary work.
