Albert G. Mackey - Lexicon and History of Freemasonry - 1911-1911

Impressive and rare work of historical, symbolic, and ritual reference on universal Freemasonry, compiled by Albert Gallatin Mackey, one of the most authoritative and erudite Masonic scholars of the 19th and 20th centuries. The volume gathers definitions of all communicable terms, the traditions, the antiquities, the rites and the mysteries of the ancient world. The work is richly illustrated with color plates and black-and-white plates out of text, depicting regalia, cathedral architectures, historical portraits, and lodge documents. Half-leather editorial binding with corners; the spine finely impressed in gold with symbolic friezes of the various degrees and rites (including the square and compasses, the pelican and the double-headed eagle of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite). Internal pages in overall good condition. Preservation conditions: Solid and compact binding with signs of wear; abrasions and noticeable wear to the boards, to the endpapers and to the spine ends. Inside well preserved, hinges firm, paper in excellent condition with color plates vivid and well preserved. In 8°, pp. 570 n.
