Released on Oct. 16, 1990, the album was certified Gold by the RIAA for 500,000 copies sold on Jan. 8, 1991.* The album produced two singles that reached the top 5 of the Billboard R&B Singles chart, "Missunderstanding", which reached #1, and his duet with Diana Ross, "No Matter What You Do," which topped out at #4. It also included an interesting R&B remake of the Eagles "Hotel California". The album peaked a t #20 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and #4 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
