After Émile Oscar Guillaume (French, 1867-1954), 'La Délivrance', a patinated bronze model of a maiden; portrayed nude and standing in triumph with arms raised; the domed base signed in the maquette and inscribed for the Barbedienne Foundry, Paris; on an integral square socle; 34cm high; (sword blade missing). Note: Guillaume created La Délivrance in 1914. Conceived as a commemorative monument and originally titled 'La Victoire', it was intended to celebrate the First Battle of the Marne, in which the German advance on Paris was halted. Various public copies were erected, including one at Finchley, London, and another in Nantes.
