All auctions / Ethnographic / Aesthetic Rays of Aragonite
From our selection of mineral collectibles we present a splendid group of Aragonite crystals from Niu Corbu Quarry, Noragugume, in Sardinia. Moreover, it features elegant rays of yellow-gold acicular crystals arranged in a fan on a basalt matrix, with fluorescence and green phosphorescence reported by the seller, details that increase its aesthetic value and mineralogical significance. The specimen stands out for its crystallization quality and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Aragonite is a polymorph of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), chemically identical to calcite but with a different orthorhombic crystal structure, which gives it the characteristic acicular habit and tendency to form radiating aggregates. In Sardinia this mineral is often found within cavities of volcanic basalt rocks, where calcium carbonate-rich solutions crystallized in the geodes and vesicles of basalt. Fluorescence and phosphorescence, when present, are due to trace activating elements such as lead or manganese incorporated into the crystal lattice. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also within the realm of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with very rare exceptions always indicated in the description. The photographs are taken with professional lighting to best showcase colors and details; however, slight variations in shade can occur depending on the device or ambient light. Shipping is carried out via reliable and selected express couriers, with fast delivery (in many cases 1-2 working days in Europe), tracked and insured shipping and professional, safe packaging, as confirmed by customer reviews.
