A Silk on Linen Pictorial Needlework Sampler, English or American, Dated "1784" With alphabet, numbers and various names above two verses and a pictorial scene depicting a house and trees with deer along the bottom. Dimensions: 16 in. x 18 1/2 in.; 21 in. x 23 in. (framed) Condition Not examined outside frame. The bottom and top edges frayed. Fading and loss of colors. Some stains to linen ground. Scattered small tears and repairs. The giltwood frame with minor losses to gilding and gesso with some infill and repair.
