All auctions / Porcelain & Pottery / A RARE DIVISION ONE METAL WORKS PICTORIAL BUTTON

1 Extra large 19th century detailed Damascene button. Another example from the Lanier collection comes this incredible and wonderfully executed engraved Damascene button. This incredible example depicts a horses and riders and the famous story of Don Quijote and chasing windmills. This is certainly an example you don't want to pass by. There is so much going on in this detailed example and we have shown you several views as a result. This example was most likely made in Spain rather than Japan like many Damascene buttons we have, and with the story of Quijote it makes most sense as well. The Spanish certainly were talented at this art form of metal works and known for it long before the Japanese, This is a very rare example and Don was always proud of owning this button as it boar his name.
