A LOUIS XV PORCELAIN MOUNTED ORMOLU CARTEL CLOCK ATTRIBUTED TO VERNEAUX A PARIS, MID 18TH CENTURY The case attributable to bronzier Jean Joseph de Saint-German, maître in 1748 50cm high, 30cm wide, 10cm deep Condition Report: Verge escapement - unlikely to keep good time. Pendulum is associated. The suspension is missing so this clock is not running, and will require some attention. The movement is not necessarily original to this clock, but has age. This is a timepiece therefore it will not strike. The flowers appear to be hard paste porcelain so are likely later additions. The branches are also 19th century additions. Some rubbing and wear to the ormolu. Hairline crack between 1 and 2 pm on the dial, restored chip at the edge of this crack, some chipping around the winding hole. No doubt the timepiece will need an overhaul and clean. Some screws to the back are later applied.
