A FRENCH BRONZE FIGURE OF A FEMALE MUSICIAN
by Theodore Gechter (French, 1796-1844), signed T. GECHTER, cast as a young woman in Renaissance costume seated upon a rock, her lips parted in song and a wreath of leaves bound into her plaited hair, wearing a low necked gown with a fringed collar, chased foliate bands to the sleeves and a knotted sash above a shaped and chased basque, a violoncello resting against her shoulder with her left hand upon the neck and her right hand lowered across her knee, upon a naturalistic rocky base, dark brown patina. 22.5cm high
