A FRENCH BLACK LACQUER, GILT CHINOISERIE DECORATED AND ORMOLU MOUNTED BUREAU PLAT IN THE MANNER OF CHARLES CRESSENT, IN LOUIS XV STYLE, MID 19TH CENTURY With a tooled leather inset top 77cm high, 172cm wide, 83cm deep Provenance: Property from the collection of Comte Frédéric Chandon de Briailles Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old chips and splits. The lacquer and gilt surface with various areas of small fragmentary loss and wear, see images for extent. No key is present. The central locks and the right locks are open, the left drawer remains locked. The mounts with various levels of tarnishing and discolouration but all are firmly secured. The longest side with the false drawers is in better preserved condition, as to be expected. The leather appears to be original and bears the expected marks, thinning, scratches and discolouration. There is a split running almost the entirety of its length to the middle, see images. Solid and stable overall.
