Set of eight English sterling silver salt cellars and salt spoons, Birmingham, late 19th or early 20th century. Spoons and William Richard James Lewis & Sons. The cellars by William Richard Corke are designed in a Rococo Revival style with bombe-shaped bodies featuring heavy repousse floral and scroll embossed decoration, wavy gadrooned rims, and four cast scroll feet. The spoons by James Lewis & Sons, feature beaded borders and neoclassical oval motifs on the terminals. The reverse of the spoon handles bears a maker mark in a rectangular cartouche reading JL&S followed by a lion passant for sterling silver, an anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, and a lowercase date letter in a shaped shield. Presented in a fitted black case with a textured exterior and a hinged closure. Thermo Scientific Niton XL2 XRF Precious Metal Analyzer tested.
