A pair of Wedgwood Hotelware ceramic salt and pepper shakers commissioned for the Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base. Each shaker features a pear-shaped white glazed body with a tapered neck. A single blue band is applied around the top of the neck, positioned above a blue transfer-printed crest for the MAXWELL - GUNTER OFFICERS OPEN MESS. The crest depicts a central oil lamp surrounded by the Latin motto Mens Sibi Conscia Recti, which translates to a mind conscious of its own rectitude. One shaker is designed with a single pour hole at the top, while the other features a circular arrangement of multiple holes. The undersides bear a green underglaze manufacturer mark reading WEDGWOOD HOTELWARE MADE IN ENGLAND. Both pieces are fitted with yellow plastic stoppers labeled RUBIN NOTION COLLECTION.
