Set of 3 bottles – Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2021 – Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin THE ESTATE The Droin estate is one of the great family signatures of Chablis, seated on the same land for several centuries. Jean-Paul and then Benoît Droin have forged a widely recognized style: precise, taut Chablis with real mineral depth, and oak-aging in barrels that adds texture without masking the terroir. Critics (Bettane+Desseauve, RVF, Burghound) regularly place it among the safe bets of the appellation. In the hierarchy of Chablis, it sits at the top end of the pack, behind the absolute references Raveneau and Vincent Dauvissat, and alongside Billaud-Simon, William Fèvre, Pattes Loup, Louis Michel, or Moreau-Naudet. A SIGNATURE TO PLACE AMONG THE GREAT NAMES OF BURGUNDY Burgundy boasts some of the world's most prestigious wine houses: Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Leroy, Coche-Dury, Armand Rousseau, Domaine Leflaive, Comtes Lafon, Roulot, Domaine d'Auvenay, Georges Roumier, Domaine Dujac, Domaine de l'Arlot, and Faiveley, Bouchard Pères & Fils, and Louis Jadot. These houses have made the region the ultimate reference for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In Chablis, the Droin estate belongs to this tradition of exacting standards: meticulous work in the vineyard, faithful expression of the terroir, and characterful wines that enthusiasts of great Burgundian whites appreciate for their tension and purity. For fans of Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, or Chassagne-Montrachet, this Vaillons offers another face of Burgundian Chardonnay, more lively and more mineral, at a quality level that is comparable. THE WINE Vaillons is one of the most renowned Premier Cru vineyards on the left bank of the Serein. Its Kimmeridgian limestone soils give it an elegant, taut, and saline character. VINTAGE 2021 A vintage of freshness, marked by spring frost and small yields. It produced bright, lively, and very digestible whites, more classic than solar.
