6 bottles of Châteauneuf-du-Pape Domaine Tourbillon 2019 cuvée 1947. Our Châteauneuf-du-Pape cuvée "1947" owes its name to the year the vines were planted. It comes from the Pignan district and is produced as a single-variety wine from Grenache; it is a wine of great purity and remarkable intensity. The district, situated on sandy and light soils, is renowned for producing wines of exceptional finesse, with a clear and precise expression of the Grenache grape. This single-variety Grenache Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a perfect example of the purity and elegance this grape can offer, especially when grown in a terroir as renowned as Pignan and carefully aged in old Burgundian barrels. It pairs ideally with refined dishes such as duck breast, grilled meats, or aged cheeses. The first nose is generous and complex, revealing aromas of ripe red fruit. One can perceive sour cherry, wild strawberry, and raspberry. Subtle notes of dark fruit such as plum and cassis are added, along with floral hints evoking rose and violet. Aging in old Burgundy barrels for 18 months brings a light oaky touch, with nuances of blond tobacco, cocoa, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, this wine shows great elegance, with a silky texture and notable depth. The Grenache expresses itself fully, offering a voluptuous roundness and remarkable concentration. The tannins are fine, melted, and very well integrated, highlighting the sweetness and richness of the fruit. Red fruit notes dominate, accompanied by spicy and peppery nuances typical of Grenache, as well as light oak touches from aging in Burgundian barrels. The finish is long, marked by a pleasant freshness and discreet minerality that balances the wine's richness. The aromas of red fruits and spicy notes persist pleasantly, leaving an impression of finesse and harmony.
