2018 Marqués de Griñón, Caliza - Dominio de Valdepusa - 12 Bottles (0.75L) Free shipping! 90 points James Suckling ELABORACIÓN: The Marqués de Griñón Caliza wine is made from grapes harvested from 45-year-old vines from a single plot of 42 hectares (Finca Casa de las Vacas). Harvesting is done by hand and once in the winery the grape clusters are sorted on a table and de-stemmed. Subsequently the grapes are pressed and the must flows by gravity into stainless steel tanks where it ferments and macerates for 4 weeks. The resulting wine is transferred to new and previously used French Allier oak barrels where it ages for 10 months. GRAPE VARIETY: Blend of Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Graciano. APPEARANCE: Displays a very deep violet color with intense reddish highlights on the surface. AROMA: Highly complex on the nose. From the first moment the intense aromas of ripe red and black fruit (cherries, currants, and blueberries) are perceptible, combined with notes of wild aromatic herbs over a mineral background. PALATE: On the palate, it offers a smooth and silky feel. A very fleshy red wine with a lingering fruity flavor and a balanced finish. PAIRING: Very versatile; excellent with appetizers, tapas and starters featuring cured meats and ham, as well as main courses of red and white meats or traditional spoon-style stews. SERVING: The recommended serving temperature is around 14°C-16°C.
