R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia was founded in 1877 in Haro, in the La Rioja region. Key features: More than 140 years of history producing wines in the traditional Rioja style. It is one of the few wineries that maintains 19th-century methods. They manufacture their own American oak barrels at the winery’s cooperage. The Viña Tondonia Blanco Reserva 2013 has a very long maturation and late market release (many years after harvest). The Tondonia vineyard is on a peninsula formed by the Ebro River, one of Rioja’s historic sites. These varieties allow for great aging potential, something very characteristic of Rioja’s classic whites. Aging Fermentation in large oak vats. 6 years of aging in American oak barrels. Manual racking twice a year. Clarification with egg whites. Afterwards it remains for years in bottle at the winery before going to market. In total, the wine can have more than 10-12 years of aging between barrel and bottle before sale. Always in a private cellar with controlled temperature. IMPORTANT !!
